Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) has designated outdoor smoking areas for passengers. If you are looking for a smoking area in Atlanta airport, remember that smoking is prohibited inside terminals, concourses, restaurants, and other indoor public spaces.
Although travelers often search for an Atlanta airport smoking lounge, ATL does not offer indoor smoking rooms. Passengers must use permitted outdoor areas and allow enough time to return to their gates.
Where Are the Smoking Areas at Atlanta Airport?
Reported outdoor smoking locations are near the Domestic and International Terminals. The smoking areas at Atlanta airport may include locations around these entrances:
Domestic Terminal North: Near Door N1, between N3 and N4, and near lower-level Doors LN1 and LN2.
Domestic Terminal South: Between Doors S1 and S2, between S4 and S5, near S6, and around lower-level Doors LS1 and LS2.
International Terminal: Near Doors D1 and D3 on the departures level and Doors A1 and A3 on the arrivals level.
These locations should be verified with airport signage or staff, as access and designated smoking areas can change.
How to Find an Atlanta Airport Smoking Area Map
An Atlanta airport smoking area map can help you identify terminal entrances and plan your route to an outdoor smoking location. Check your terminal first, then follow posted signs or ask airport staff for directions.
Can You Smoke After Security at ATL?
Smoking is not permitted inside secure concourses. Reaching an outdoor smoking area may require you to exit the secure zone and pass through TSA screening again before returning to your gate. Vaping and e-cigarette use are also prohibited in indoor terminal areas.
Tips for Travelers
Confirm the nearest permitted outdoor smoking area.
Follow airport signs and staff instructions.
Allow extra time for security screening if you leave the secure area.
Check your boarding time before taking a smoking break.
