Meghalaya Army Agniveer Bharti: Physical Efficiency Test for Meghalaya Government Jobs

Meghalaya Army Agniveer Bharti recruitment procedure takes place via the Indian Army through the Recruiting Office (Headquarters), Shillong for the qualified candidates from all districts of Meghalaya. In the recruiting year 2027, applications have been invited for unmarried male candidates of Meghalaya via Agnipath Scheme. Online application period was from 13th February to 1st April 2026 and Common Entrance Examination (CEE) was held in June 2026, while the candidates shortlisted via CEE were called for the Phase-II recruitment rally.

Physical Fitness Test (PFT) is a crucial step during the Army recruitment process for aspirants interested in pursuing careers with Meghalaya Government Jobs. Candidates must satisfy the prescribed physical standards and before proceeding to the next stages, qualify in the physical activities.

Meghalaya Army Agniveer Recruitment 2026-27

Recruitment Rally for Selected Candidates was organized by the Recruiting Office (Headquarters), Shillong for Agniveer General Duty, Agniveer Technical, Agniveer Tradesman (10th Pass) and Agniveer Tradesman (8th Pass) in the month of August 2026 from 22 to 25 August 2026 at 58 Gorkha Training Centre, Happy Valley, Shillong.

Recruitment is done in stages. Candidates initially appeared for the CEE online and after the selection based on merit they are called for the recruitment rally. Hence, a mere passing of the written test is not enough for final selection.

Meghalaya Army Agniveer Physical Efficiency Test

The Physical Fitness Test takes place at the rally location. Some of the primary events that take place are:

  • 1.6 Km Run

  • Beam/Pull-Ups

  • 9 Feet Ditch

  • Zig-Zag Balance

The PFT is supposed to test the running skills, upper body strength, balance, and agility of the candidate. In order to qualify for further stages of the recruitment process, the candidate must pass the prescribed test events. This has been clearly stated in army recruitment notifications.

1.6 Km Running Test

The 1.6 km run is an essential part of the Army physical fitness test that must be completed by the candidates within the designated time period.

Recent guidelines regarding the Army recruitment process have employed different timing categories for allocating marks and the minimum requirements to qualify for a recruitment may vary based on the recruitment notice issued. Hence, for the upcoming recruitment program of Meghalaya, it is advisable for the candidates not to consider the previous rally timings for preparation.

In the 2026 Meghalaya recruitment guide program, the 1.6 km run was also stressed as an essential element in the Army Physical Fitness Test.

Practising for the run must be done regularly as the candidates cannot expect to get the timing right at the very first attempt in the rally. Running and improving the speed can help candidates prepare for the test.

Beam and Pull-Ups

The beam or pull-up test determines a soldier’s upper body strength and endurance. Soldiers should be able to execute pull-ups using the procedure that the army requires.

Pull-ups training is necessary since just being fit will not guarantee qualification. Pull-ups, assisted pull-ups, hanging activities and strength training can form part of one’s preparation for the PFT.

9 Feet Ditch

The 9 feet ditch is an exercise that entails agility and jumping abilities during the PFT. Participants have to execute this event following the procedure provided.

The test involves leg power, coordination and balance. Aspirants should refrain from conducting the activity without proper guidance as wrong technique can lead to injuries.

Zig-Zag Balance

The Zig-Zag Balance test determines the balance ability and coordination of a participant. This test requires participants to negotiate the provided balance path.

Balance can be developed through controlled running exercises and training of balance. Participants are advised to focus on developing body balance rather than completing the task fast.

Physical Measurement Test After PFT

Those who clear the PFT should also take the PMT. The physical parameters like height, weight, etc. are examined against the standards prescribed by the army.

In case of Meghalayan candidates, there is provision of relaxations on the basis of physical standards, wherever specifically mentioned in the army recruiting guidelines. A government career guidance program held in Meghalaya in March 2026 had fixed 162 cm as the minimum height for females, with a 4 cm relaxation for candidates belonging to North East, Gorkha and Garhwali categories.

What Happens After the Physical Test?

The Army recruitment procedure does not stop at the PFT test. Candidates who qualify for the physical and measurement tests might need to undergo additional tests such as the Adaptability Test and Medical Examination based on the relevant category and notification of recruitment. As per the Army recruitment rules, candidates who qualify for the PFT and PMT will be called for the Adaptability Test followed by the medical examination.

Medical examination is done based on the standards prescribed by the Army and may vary from the normal civil medical standards. Even passing the medical test is not a guarantee for enrolment in itself.

Documents and Reporting for Meghalaya Rally

The selected participants have to come to the venue as per the date and time stated on their admit card. In case of the rally of Meghalaya 2026, the participants had been asked to report to 58 Gorkha Training Centre, Happy Valley, Shillong, by 3:30 AM. The participants needed to carry their admit card and the documents as specified in the notification of the rally.

Participants need to keep the educational certificates, identity proof, domicile proof documents, photographs, etc. ready for their respective categories.

Meghalaya Army Agniveer Physical Test Preparation

Candidates appearing in recruitment for Meghalaya Government Jobs via Agniveer recruitment from Army must start training physically well ahead of time before the rally. A suitable method of training can be:

  • Timed 1.6 km running practice.

  • Short-distance sprint and interval training.

  • Pull-up and upper-body strength exercises.

  • Leg-strength and mobility exercises.

  • Agility and balance drills.

  • Adequate rest and recovery between training sessions.

  • Practising only under safe conditions and avoiding sudden excessive workouts.

Conclusion

After the CEE, the Physical Efficiency Test for Meghalaya Army Agniveer Bharti is an important phase for the candidates. The PFT typically involves running, pull-ups and ditch crossing/balance with physical measurements and other relevant recruitment phases. Candidates are required to prepare on the basis of latest Indian Army Notification as timings, standards and requirements as per category may change from one recruitment to another.
