What is Morocco eVisa

Morocco has been modernising its visa and entry policies, including the introduction of an electronic visa eVisa or electronic travel authorisation system in many cases. If you hold a Ghanaian passport (ordinary) and plan to visit Morocco for tourism or business, it’s essential to understand the rules to avoid surprises at the border. In recent months there have been important changes for Ghanaian citizens specifically.

What is the difference between a tourist and business eVisa for Morocco?

When Fast Morocco eVisa approval from Ghana or electronic visa options, typically there are at least two distinct categories: tourist and business. Here’s how they differ:

1.Tourist eVisa: sightseeing, visiting family or friends, experiencing local culture in Morocco.

  • You cannot use this for paid employment, or to study long-term, or to settle.

  • The required supporting documents are generally simpler (passport, photo, travel details).

  • The stay permitted is usually short (commonly up to 30 days).

2.Business eVisa: attending meetings, trade shows, exploring commercial partnerships, networking.

  • Still not intended for long-term work, paid employment, or residence in Morocco.

  • In addition to the basic documents, you will often need an invitation letter from a Moroccan business entity, maybe proof of business/trade purpose.

  • The duration may be the same or slightly longer, depending on the policy, but typically the stay and the nature of activity remain restricted.

Can I get an eVisa on arrival in Morocco?

No generally, you cannot obtain a full eVisa or visa on arrival in Morocco for most travellers. You either need to apply in advance (for eVisa) or be eligible for visa entry or an electronic travel authorisation.

Morocco does not issue visas on arrival. You must either be visa-exempt or apply for the correct visa in advance.

What documents are required for a Morocco eVisa application?

If you do need to apply for an eVisa (or similar electronic authorisation) for Morocco, the standard documents include:

  1. A valid passport must have sufficient validity beyond your stay. Guidelines say the passport should be valid for at least 90 days beyond planned entry or even 6 months in some cases.

  2. A recent passport-sized photograph with a plain background.

  3. Travel details: your intended dates of arrival, departure; sometimes accommodation information.

  4. Proof of eligibility: In some cases, if you are from a nationality that normally needs a visa or if you hold a residence permit in another country, you might have to submit a valid residence permit or visa issued by certain countries (Schengen, US, UK, etc) as part of the criteria for eVisa.

  5. For business category: an invitation letter from a Moroccan business entity, details of the business meeting, maybe proof of employment or business engagement.

  5. Once approved, download the eVisa/authorisation — Print a copy (or keep digital) to show at the border.

How Long Can You Stay & eVisa Validity?

Here are two related but distinct things: the validity of the eVisa (i.e., how long you can use it / how long after issue you can use it) and the duration of stay permitted once you enter Morocco.

  • The standard Morocco eVisa (for nationals requiring it) is valid for up to 180 days from issue in which you must enter.

  • Once you arrive, the maximum stay is often up to 30 days for those short-visit categories.

  • Entry is typically single‐entry (you cannot leave and re-enter under the same visa) for these eVisas.

How to Receive Your Morocco eVisa

  • You will typically receive the eVisa or authorisation via email as a PDF or digital document.

  • You should print a copy or keep a clear digital copy to present at immigration in Morocco.

  • The holder of the electronic visa is invited to provide his eVisa document at the time of boarding to Morocco, upon his arrival at the border posts.

  • Keep this document safe and show it along with your passport when you land.

How Long Does it Take Morocco eVisa Processing Time?

Processing time depends on how quickly you submit a complete application and which processing category you choose standard vs urgent. Here are typical times:

  • Standard processing: About 3 to 6 business days for applicants from many countries.

  • Rush processing: 2 to 4 days or a few business days for premium fee service.

  • Super Rush processing:  1 - 2 Days applicants from many countries.

What You Need to Know About the Urgent Morocco eVisa Application

If you need to travel on short notice, here’s what to keep in mind for an urgent/express Morocco eVisa (or authorisation) application:

  • You’ll typically pay a higher fee for express processing (rush or super-rush).

  • Make sure all documents are scanned and uploaded correctly (photo, passport, any invitations/business documents) because errors cause delays.

  • Note airline and border requirements: even with a fast eVisa approval, airlines may check your authorization before boarding.

  • Keep copies of payment, application number, and approved eVisa/authorisation email.

  • Make sure that your passport and all travel documents meet validity requirements (e.g., passport validity for several months ahead) because if these are invalid you may be refused boarding even with an approved eVisa.

Is it Possible and How to Extend a Morocco eVisa?

As touched on earlier, an extension may be possible, but is subject to the local Moroccan immigration authorities.

  1. Arrive in Morocco, stay within the permitted period.

  2. Before your authorised stay ends, visit the relevant local police station or immigration office.

  3. Submit a request for extension, often with justification (medical, family emergency, business reason) and correct supporting documentation.

  4. Await decision — there is no guarantee you will be granted the extension.

  5. If approved, you may receive a stamp/permit extension that allows you to stay longer.

  6. If denied, you must leave by your original exit date or risk being considered overstaying (which may lead to fines, deportation, or future entry bans).

Morocco Visa Cost: How Much Will You Pay?

The cost for a Morocco eVisa or online authorisation varies depending on nationality, processing speed, and category (tourist vs business). Also for the Ghana-Morocco arrangement the visa cost may be replaced by an online authorisation cost since ordinary Ghanaian passports.

  • For countries requiring the eVisa, some service providers list standard processing at one rate (for example three business days etc) and faster processing at a higher rate.

  • Bear in mind that they often charge extra for service fees in addition to the official government fee.

  • If you are Ghanaian and falling under the new or authorisation regime, you may only pay the authorisation service fee.
