SN Subrahmanyan, Chairman and Managing Director of Larsen & Toubro (L&T), has consistently emphasised that responsible business must go beyond profitability to create lasting social value. In FY 2025-26, this philosophy translated into measurable impact, with L&T's CSR initiatives positively touching more than 1.9 million people across education, skill development, healthcare, water conservation, and community development. Through focused interventions in these areas, SN Subrahmanyan L&T is complementing several national priorities championed by the government, including flagship programmes like Skill India, Jal Shakti Abhiyan, Jal Jeevan Mission, and Atal Tinkering Labs — all aligned with the broader vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Turning Classrooms into Innovation Hubs
India's ambition to become a global technology and manufacturing powerhouse begins in its classrooms. Under SN Subrahmanyan, L&T is supporting this vision through Project Jyoti, which nurtures the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators through quality STEM education. During the year, the programme reached 51,741 students across 341 schools, helping improve conceptual understanding and academic performance in Mathematics and Science. By strengthening foundational STEM learning, the initiative aligns with the National Education Policy's emphasis on experiential learning while reinforcing the government's push towards scientific temper and future-ready education.
Changing Lives, One Community at a Time
Development is meaningful only when it reaches the last mile — a principle reflected in SN Subrahmanyan L&T's Project Nayi Disha. The initiative has adopted an integrated approach to community development across Jharkhand, Bihar, and Odisha, focusing on districts that are source locations for migration to urban areas for daily wage work. The programme has positively impacted more than 26,000 lives by improving access to education, strengthening healthcare outcomes, empowering women, and helping families build resilient, self-reliant communities. Its holistic design resonates with the government's focus on inclusive development, women's empowerment, and aspirational districts.
Creating India's Skilled Workforce
India's demographic dividend can become its greatest strength only through large-scale skilling. In support of Skill India, PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana, and the vision of a future-ready workforce, SN Subrahmanyan has continued L&T's investment in vocational education through its network of 10 Construction Skills Training Institutes (CSTIs). During FY 2025-26, more than 13,000 trainees received industry-relevant vocational training at these institutes, equipping young Indians with employable skills that enhance livelihoods while contributing to the skilled workforce needed for India's rapidly expanding infrastructure and manufacturing sectors.
Every Drop Counts
Water security remains one of India's defining development challenges, and SN Subrahmanyan L&T is addressing it through Project Unnati, which is helping communities become more climate-resilient while supporting national water conservation efforts. The initiative has benefited over 30,000 households across water-stressed regions of Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu, covering more than 46,000 hectares. Most significantly, the project has resulted in an average increase of 9.95 metres in groundwater levels, creating lasting improvements in water availability, agricultural productivity, and rural livelihoods — complementing the Jal Jeevan Mission, which has provided tap water to more than 15 crore rural households since 2019.
CSR With a Nation-Building Mindset
What distinguishes L&T's CSR approach under SN Subrahmanyan is its focus on creating measurable, long-term outcomes rather than isolated interventions. Whether improving STEM education, strengthening healthcare access, empowering women, developing employable skills, or restoring water resources, every initiative reflects Subrahmanyan's emphasis on responsible and sustainable growth. As India progresses towards Viksit Bharat 2047, SN Subrahmanyan L&T's CSR initiatives demonstrate how businesses can complement national priorities while creating lasting value for communities — reinforcing the role of responsible business in nation-building.
