Scent of Gold gives a Diablo 4 seasonal character +25% gold found for its entry point, making it the first pick for a gold-focused Tyrael's Boons setup. Farming remains the way to measure a route, while D4 Gold is an alternative for players who prefer not to rely entirely on drops.

Spend the first points on reliable gold

Open the seasonal War Plans board, select Tyrael's Boons, and find Scent of Gold on the gold path. The entry bonus applies to gold drops the character already earns; it does not guarantee extra item drops or replace activity rewards. Check that the entry node shows as allocated before leaving the board.

Seasonal characters can access the tree without owning Lord of Hatred. The board has a total limit of 132 points across four paths, so a full investment in experience or materials competes directly with gold upgrades.

For an early gold shortage, take Scent of Gold first, then move toward Sacks of Coin on Line C. Each rank gives Champions and Elites a 10%, 20%, or 30% chance, respectively, to release an extra gold burst on death. More eligible enemies mean more chances to trigger it; a quick route with few Champions or Elites may produce disappointing results.

Experience, gems, and Legendary items

Collector Lessons in Victory raises kill experience by 4% per rank, up to 100% at 25 ranks. Take a partial investment if leveling is slowing the build down, but avoid filling all 25 ranks automatically when gold is the immediate bottleneck.

Fistful of Gems offers a gem burst instead of the coin burst. Material Desires and Diamonds in the Dirt on Line B provide Cube materials and Gem Fragments rather than directly increasing gold found. These are useful material choices, but switching to them during a gold test changes the result you are trying to measure.

Legendary Luck grants +50% Legendary find chance. Its gold value is indirect: more Legendary items can mean more vendor income if you sell them. Salvaging those items instead supports materials, so keep the sale rule fixed when judging the finisher.

Match Tactics rewards to the fastest activity

War Plans Tactics provides a separate gold lever: select Gold as the payout type on an eligible reward node and assign up to three points to it. Pair that reward with an activity your build already clears quickly, such as a Helltide loop or Nightmare Dungeon. A fully invested Gold reward on a slow activity can still lose to a faster route.

On the PTR, Tactics respecs use Marks of Wisdom, with a soft ceiling of about 20 Marks. Plan a few meaningful layouts rather than changing points after every run. For each layout, note the selected activity, Gold reward points, and elapsed time after travel and inventory work.

Compare routes before committing live points

Use the PTR to compare one setup with Scent of Gold, Sacks of Coin, and a Gold Tactics reward against another that changes only one allocation. A Fistful of Gems comparison answers a materials question; a partial Collector comparison answers how much gold income you give up for experience. Do not change the activity, difficulty, and point allocation together.

Start the timer at the town exit and run a fixed number of loops at the same Torment tier. Include travel, turn-ins, vendor visits, and the final stash trip; then divide the gold gained by the elapsed time to compare gold per hour. Keep the same sell-or-salvage rule for every block, and repeat runs because chance-based bursts can vary sharply over short sessions.

The stated patch 3.3.0 PTR window is PC only, from October 27 at 10:00 a.m. PDT to November 3, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. PST. Treat its values as PTR information, not confirmed live results, and check the live tree before spending after launch.

The stated live Boons respec cost is 5,000,000 gold per point, so moving 20 points would cost 100,000,000 gold if that price remains unchanged.
