PART 1: ETERNAL STORYLINE

The thrilling shadows of the little boy’s past had eaten him up and reincarnated into the Dark Knight – the biggest fear of the serial killers, grafters and criminal figures. Two years of stalking the streets as his dark personality - Batman (Robert Pattinson), has led Bruce Wayne into the coldness of Gotham’s City criminal underworld. Together with Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis) and Lt. James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) – he fights against the city’s corrupt network and several psychos, who crave for the chaos and blood. He approved himself as a lonely embodiment of vengeance or solo avenger amongst his fellow residents. When a new target for the Batman – The Riddler, starts his series of sadistic, psychopathic and ruthless murders, a chain of  puzzling clues sends the “World’s Loneliest Emo Detective” on a deathly investigation through the perspective of Gotham as a desperate city. Also, he faces such characters like: Selina Kyle/aka Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz), Oswald Cobb/aka the Penguin (Colin Farrell), Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), and our 5-star villain – Edward Nashton/aka the Riddler (Paul Dano). As a matter of fact, with a great power, comes a great…not responsibility, but long-forgotten trauma…

PART 2 : DING-DONG, WHO’S AT THE DOOR? – KURT FUCKING COBAIN

The Batman is a 2022 superhero crime drama film based on the DC Comics superhero of the well known household name. The film is directed, co-produced, and co-written by Matt Reeves – cool man, who definitely knows his business and Batman's future. By the way, the lead role in the director's idea had…Kurt Cobain! Yeah, I’m absolutely right, because Robert Pattinson’s portrayal of Batman was partly based on a famous singer and guitarist. Honestly, I have so much to tell you about, so hurry up and grab your batsuits, we’re beginning with the reasons why this version of Batman is the best?

First things first, let’s remember previous(good) adaptations: 1989 Tim Burton’s “The Batman” with Michael Keaton and 2005-2012 Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight” trilogy with Christian The Gorgeous Bale. But what defines our Batman from them? And my answer is: truth, realism and gothic Bruce. When I mentioned realism and truth, I didn’t lie – because Mr. Reeves showed us real price glory or should I say consequences of being an owl. Obviously, during the daytime, Bruce Wayne can’t operate normally and is absolutely devastated to rule his father’s company – Wayne Enterprises. Alfred emphasizes Bruce a lot on saving his reputation and legacy, but young wild heart, guided by bats and night life, thinks the opposite. The quote from movie confirms it:

Another major difference between previous cinemas about super-jacked men in costumes is the fact that this movie is more detective, rather than boring sci-fi massive blockbuster. The tone of “The Batman” is more related to films like “Se7en” and “Zodiac”(great pictures about crimes and serial killers). And…that’s why I love it – because I can’t stand typical action movies with Jason Statham that always go together with unrealistic events, weapons, stunts, e.t.c. 

BRUCE USES BATMAN AS A DRUG TO EXPRESS HIMSELF.

Later, I pointed out on Batman’s close bond with Kurt Cobain, so let’s open a can of worms. Robert Pattinson’s portrayal of Bruce Wayne is easily recognised as being brooding, reclusive and kind of a drug addicted guy. Director Matt Reeves was influenced by Cobain’s struggles with fame and addiction, which led to the creation of a Gotham’s Prince, who was isolated from an ordinary life and driven by revenge, rather than the typical playboy persona. As a result, the Nirvana song called "Something in the Way" was chosen to be the movie's soundtrack and now is considered to be the Batman’s song. By the way, while watching Mr.Reevese’s detective child, I noticed an interesting detail: every time Batman arrives from the mission and takes off his mask, black paint around Bruce’s eyes proves us that the Dark Knight never leaves his master. He almost took over him yet. 

PART 3: I HATE SUPERHERO STUFF (ESPECIALLY MARVEL)

Let’s travel back in time: at the age of 12, I was a nuclear bomb among the Marvel universe and its lore. But something happened in two years: the superhero genre turned into an annoying, childish and pretty boring one, and I started my own pace through golden cinematography. Obviously, this “something” was me growing up and realising how troped for instance, “ The Avengers” were. Eventually, in 2023, I watched Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy and guess what…I fell in love with the down-to-earth, without hundreds of multiverses and technologically impossible gadgets superhero. Frankly speaking, even while writing compliments to Robert Pattinson, I always remember Christian Bale with honor.

Summing up, I am really happy for Mr. Pattinson and his rising career with upcoming(or not) films like: Mickey 17, Die My Love, Odyssey and Tenet. Meanwhile, I will be patiently waiting for the second part and extension of the love line between Selina Kyle/aka Catwoman and Bruce Wayne/aka Batman.
